How do I make an appointment?
The first step in your child's journey with Easterseals is to have him or her see the primary care physician or pediatrician for a referral. The referral form (a PDF) is filled out by the physician. The physician chooses for which services he or she is referring the child. The referral can be made through WVU Medicine's online portal, or it can be faxed to Easterseals. Once a referral is received, you will be contacted by Easterseals to set up an initial evaluation. Please allow at least one week to be contacted by the scheduler.
How long will it take for my child to be seen?
The answer to this question depends on provider availability, which varies. However, you can expect your child's initial evaluation to be set up within two months for medical, speech, physical, and occupational therapy, and within four months for autism testing. These are conservative estimates.
Do you take my insurance?
Easterseals accepts all commercial insurances, as well as Ohio Medicaid and West Virginia Medicaid. We also offer self-pay plans with sliding fee scales, and we never turn anyone away for inability to pay. Payment plans will be discussed during the intake meeting with the social worker.
Do you test adults for autism?
We test children ages 31 months through 17 years for autism.
