Dave Cantrell of the Ohio Valley Trades and Labor Assembly said his union were looking for a way to support the local community so they sponsored a dunk tank at the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Heritage Festival, held every July in the height of the hot summer, at Wheeling Heritage Port.
And every year since then, Easterseals partner WTRF TV-7 has sent volunteer on-air personalities to sit in the wet seat. Easterseals thanks WTRF Anchor Steven Moore and Meteorologist Zach Coleman for being willing to take the plunge for Easterseals over and over at the Italian Festival.
"This is just one more way WTRF supports the people of our community and the children with disabilities we serve at Easterseals," Easterseals Marketing and Development Director Betsy Bethel-McFarland said upon accepting the check for $360 from Cantrell.
The money will be used to help provide life-changing services for children with disabilities and developmental delays. Easterseals provides 2,000 children a year with outpatient medical rehabilitation and child development services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Easterseals also provides medical services and medication management, as well as autism evaluations.
