West Virginia Birth to Three

Early intervention is vital to the success of medical rehabilitation therapies and early childhood development. The first three years of life are the building blocks to future learning, growth, and development. 

West Virginia Birth to Three is a system of services and supports for children ages birth through 35 months old who have a delay in their development or may be at risk for delay. The goal is to help the child reach his or her fullest potential. 

Services take place in the home or other community setting that is a natural environment for the child. Services are free. Parents can self-refer or can be referred by a medical professional.

Who is eligible?

• Child is birth to 35 months old
• Child resides in West Virginia
• Child is not reaching appropriate developmental milestones
• Child is diagnosed with a condition that may lead to a delay

West Virginia Birth to Three contracts with Easterseals Rehabilitation Center therapists and child development specialists to provide services in homes throughout the Northern Panhandle and Mid-Ohio Valley. Parents are given the opportunity to choose their therapists and can change at any time. Often, West Virginia Birth to Three practitioners recommend families seek a referral from their physicians to Easterseals Rehabilitation Center to continue services when they age out, especially if there is a gap between receiving Birth to Three services and starting school services.
