School Services

Easterseals Rehabilitation Center therapists provide life-changing medical rehabilitation therapies in schools throughout the region. 

Some larger school districts are able to hire their own therapists to serve the district, but smaller schools contract with highly qualified providers such as Easterseals to meet the state and federal requirements to provide these therapies. The services are provided as part of each child's Individualized Education Plan. The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act mandates these services.

Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy may be provided by Easterseals contracted therapists. Of the 2,000+ clients we serve each year, about one-third of them are seen in local schools, including Brooke and Tyler Counties in West Virginia and about a dozen Ohio school districts.

Often, in the summer months, children who receive in-school therapy are referred by their doctors to Easterseals for summer intensive services. All services at Easterseals begin with a doctor's referral.
